How many appointments can we fit into one day? Maybe a few. First we started early this morning with Dylan's doctor appointment and we learned some bad news...Dylan has lost weight. This isn't good for any child but particularly for a child with a heart condition. So we will go back in a few weeks to see if the problem has resolved and that hopefully this is just related to his not feeling well off and on again for the last little bit. But with the bad news comes the good stuff. First, his ears looked good today and second, the doctor spotted where some teeth might be coming in! They haven't "popped through" but he said he sees where there is some indication that they might come soon. Hooray.
Then we went to our OT appointment where Dylan got to show Eileen, his therapist, all of his new tricks. Dylan absolutely adores Eileen so he was quick to show her how he can put things IN to a box or cup. Suffice to say, she was impressed with our new trick and Mommy was VERY proud. Then Dylan added another new accomplishment....he stacked a plastic toy ring onto it's pole! Eileen showed him how and after a few tries, he did it (you know we'll be practicing that one). While we were there, we also ran into our previous Speech Therapist, E'Lena, who has been out on materinity leave. We were very excited to see her and Mommy was a little jealous! She looked fabulous!!! It was great to see her and we are glad that she is back.
After our OT appointment, Dylan got to go play with cousin Tessa while Mommy had a dentist appointment. While he was there, Dylan did a great (but naughty) thing! He reached over and took one of Tessa's french fries. Then he ATE IT! So even though it was technically stealing, we can add french fries to our repertoire of food that he will feed himself. Next time, lets make it a little bit more of a healthier choice. Huh, Dylan?
After Mommy picked him up this afternoon, we went to a meeting together for church (Mommy helps with the mobile meals program). While we were at the meeting, Dylan started getting pretty sick so we had to leave early. The rest of the evening was spent with two baths from episodes of diarrhea and then he went to bed early. Our poor little Dylan fell asleep after some tylenol to bring down his fever and we can already tell we are in for a rough night.
After Dylan went to sleep, Mommy started packing. You see, she realized that June is really in two weeks which has sent her into panic mode. For all of you who are planning to help us move, you can expect that Kristy went anal retentive again and there will be boxes that are color-coded, labeled, sorted, and probably in alphabetical order (okay, not that bad....well, maybe). But this does mean that the sale of the house has passed all the critical stages and we close on the 14th of June. It also looks like we will be able to start working on our new house (the painting and carpets) on June 1st. It is all happening very fast but we are excited. Dylan still has to come up with some names for those cows. He can work on that when he is feeling better.
We'll keep you updated on how Dylan is doing. Hopefully, Dylan will be better tomorrow. He has a big date with a photographer for the Down syndrome Outreach calendar that is coming out next fall. Yep, Dylan is going to be a model. Dylan was also supposed to help Mommy pack somemore tomorrow now that he can put things IN to a box. He has to earn his keep somehow...okay Dylan, we'll give you a couple of years. We just want you to feel better first.
