Just when I let my guard down thinking that Dylan is over this stomach virus (no problems over the last day or so), he has a present. Let me set the record straight, it was not just any present, but award winning and one that I'm sure I'll be cleaning up for days. And to think that all I wanted to do was go into the other room to fetch my drink of water.
Here's the scenario: I'm very thirsty (after all, I'm pregnant and very hot) so I set Dylan down to get my drink from the other room. When I return, I find that Dylan has had diarrhea again and it has leaked all over the light beige carpet in our bedroom. Since Dylan apparently likes warm, gooey stuff, he then proceeded to play in it. That's right, it was a brownish-yellow colored glob of fun. It was smeared into the carpet, all over the dresser, thrown against the wall, in his hair, running down his legs, etc. The list really does go on. I was only gone for a second!
It's safe to say that I then carried the poop monster into the bathroom (dripping all the way) and threw him fully clothed into the bath and turned on the water. Except, here is where I made the fatal mistake. I plugged the tub so it would fill like a normal bath rather than rinse him off first. So as I turned around to get some towels to throw his clothes in, he starts to splash the water EVERYWHERE...landing more pooh all over the bathroom.
So now I'm covered in it, Dylan is covered in it, the bathroom is covered in it and let's not even talk about the bedroom where it all started. It took me a good while to clean up the mess, myself, and a very playful Dylan.
I need a break.
Other than our little "episode" this afternoon, Dylan did actually have a productive day. We went down to Seattle for a craniosachral appointment and carpooled with a couple of friends from Bellingham. Our friend, Gretchen, has a son with Downs who is two weeks older than Dylan so we try to piggy-back our therapy appointments in Seattle together whenever possible. The drive down was fun and the boys napped pretty much the whole trip. So that meant us Mommies could talk and compare notes on research, therapists, latest news in Bellingham, etc. It is nice to have the ability to share information with someone, especially locally. And she is a great carpool buddy who tolerates my driving. Thanks Gretchen!
Dylan also helped Mommy pack and work on the side of the house which is finally done. (Check that off the inspection list.) It was beautiful out so Dylan got to enjoy the sun and watch his Mom slave away on the ladder. Then we shared a much deserved popsicle....thank you very much! Except for our little misadventure upstairs, generally a good day for Bug.
