Dylan has a friend, Victor, who is 6 months old. Victor came to visit today while his mommy helped us out and painted the newly repaired bathroom. While Victor's mommy was busy, Dylan and I got to play with him. We had a great time with the visit but not without a couple of rough patches in the beginning. You see, Dylan had his first lesson in sharing.
At the very beginning of our visit, I quickly realized that Dylan was apparently not used to sharing his mommy. He is normally such an easy going kid and today, he fussed while I was attending to the younger child. But after a few minutes, he seemed to get over it. That is, until he had to share the butterfly.
Victor was fascinated by a laughing butterfly toy that Dylan seemed to have very little interest in over the last few weeks. But as soon as Victor began playing with the toy, Dylan would actually reach over and take it from him. This occurred a couple of times as I would take the toy away and return it to Victor. Finally, Dylan and I had to have "the discussion." This is the part where mommy tries to reason with a one-year old. It took some doing, but after our little "talk" (which took place a couple of times), Dylan eventually relinquished the laughing butterfly to Victor.
The rest of the day was spent with a long nap for Dylan while mommy attempted to get the house ready for the inspection on Saturday. And of course, after his nap, Dylan got mommy all to himself.
