Despite his tooth coming in, Dylan did fairly well today. In fact, we attended Max's birthday party this afternoon and not even a single cranky moment (at least until we got in to the car). Max's party was wonderful and I have to give Amy such wonderful credit for putting on a wonderful celebration. There were so many fun activities for the kids who attended including facepainting, a pinata, stick puppets, balls, water balloons, a wonderful (and very delicious monkey cake), a number of games, etc!
While we were at the party, we met lots of new people, including some that have said they read Dylan's blog everyday! It was a little disconcerting at first to have someone walk up and say hello to Dylan...and then introduce themselves. I'm excited to have met everyone and I was certainly glad to see such support for Amy and Max. People drove up from Everett, Seattle, and beyond to celebrate Max's birthday including a nurse from Children's Hospital (now that is going above and beyond the call of duty!), a couple of CHARGEr mother's and their kids, a new internet friend (Hi Ang), and so many more (including a wonderful Mommy-to-be who works with a friend of mine..which reminds me, HI DAWN). Max and Amy certainly deserve this wonderful turn-out!
I have to say I'm quite embarrassed that I forgot my camera. I'm hoping that Amy got some good pictures and if so, I'm hoping she'll share a few so I can give you a little glimpse at all the fun. We really did have a good time and thank you Amy! We'll see you on Monday at Max's first day of school. We can't wait.
After the party, Dylan came home to hang out with Daddy for a while and then we were off to dinner with our good friends Don and Jen. Dylan even got to have some of our dessert at Coldstone Creamery...which of course explains why he is still up at 11pm! Lesson learned by Mommy. I normally don't allow Dylan to have sugar but given that he had already had birthday cake earlier in the day, I figured why not? Well, the answer is pretty plain now that it is so late and Dylan REALLY doesn't want to go to sleep. We are currently trying the "cry-it-out" method which is heartwrenching for Mommy (since it is her fault....). We've already tried the warm bottle of milk, singing songs in a dark room, cuddling, the bouncy chair, you name it. Hmm...but even though we learned a lesson about Dylan's sugar intake, he really did have a good day.
Shh! Dylan just fell asleep! Phew. Which means Mommy is heading to bed herself. Night Night.
