An Exciting Day at "School"

As you may recall, Dylan has "school" every Monday. (This really isn't "school" but it is a playgroup for special needs kids based out of the Whatcom Center for Early Learning. We absolutely LOVE this place and the support that they give us. For more info, please visit their site at www.wcel.net.)

Today, we had an extra special day because we took a field trip! The class went to a wonderful park in Bellingham called Elizabeth park. While we were there, Dylan got to play on the slide, ride some rocking toys, and his new favorite...the SWING! This was all accompanied by our teacher, Meril, and therapist, Janice.

It was great to play with the other kids outside of school. We enjoyed the sunshine, took turns going down the slide, played on the big toy, and even had a little picnic. That is how we discovered that Dylan likes fish crackers.

Dylan had such a great time at the park. We have taken him to the park before, but I have to admit it had been a while since we have actually taken him to the playground area of a park. Dylan absolutely loved the swing and actually signed "more" for the first time ever while on it. He could not get enough. In fact, Dylan and I stayed after class for another 45 minutes (that's a long time for a 1 year old!) so he could swing some more and he actually cried when I said it was time to go home! It broke my heart to make him leave so as you can imagine, I can't wait to take him again. We had an absolute blast and we just wanted to thank Meril and Janice for setting up our little field trip! We can't wait to see what you two come up with next!
