Today, I go back to the doctor's for my Synergis shot. This is my very, very expensive shot to help prevent me from getting RSV. RSV is a bad cold for infants and toddlers that turns into pnuemonia. Because I have a heart condition, that would put me in the hospital and cause serious potential complications.
This shot costs some seriously big bucks. Like $2000.00 a shot and I get it once a month during the winter months. In order to get the shot, you have to apply for it and get approval from your health insurance company. Fortunately, our insurance company recognizes the benefit of getting the shot so we are fully covered. Phew.
After I get my shot, we are running to an office that Mommy works for (from home) and getting some things that she has to take care of this weekend. Then, it is off to the grocery store. Since Jonah and I have been sick, we have been house bound. But Mommy says we are running out of stuff so we have to brave the elements and break our isolation for a few hours. Mommy also says she just flat out needs to get out of the house. It's bad when she is looking forward to getting some milk. I also broke my glasses so we are going to get those fixed too.
Gotta get ready. I'm seeing one of my favorite nurses today...hmm, what shall I wear?

I hope you feel better, and know that you will be a trooper when you get your shot. Cabin fever is no good. Tell Momma, I'm sending her cyber hugs too in hopes she feels the love. She's an awesome mommy.
I'm so glad they now have a shot for the RSV vaccine. Prophet was born during the last RSV season that it was still a two hour IV infusion that we had to sit thru every 28 days. It was really hard. Thankfully by the time D.K. came along the next RSV season they had developed the shot, it was so much easier!!
Hope you are feeling better and that your RSV shot didn't hurt to bad. Cabin Fever can get to everyone. I'm sure everyone enjoyed getting out of the house.
I am so glad Dylan was able to get these shots. Miss E was turned down this year, mainly because she doesn't have a heart condition...but she does have massive respiratory problems. Who knows how they decide? Anyway, she did get RSV.
I hope the process of getting the shot was not too bad.
One other criteria that can help with getting Synagis (per Max's mom Amy): if the child has been on oxygen in the past 6 months
$2000 a shot--Dylan you are getting off cheap! Evan's are around $3000 each (this is one of the only times I've regretted Evan putting weight on so well).
Sarah
I know what you mean Sarah! I'm SO thankful that our insurance covers this shot. Dylan actually put on enough weight that he gets two shots per month now!
I should have mentioned the oxygen factor. I think that automatically qualifies you and you don't have to apply for Synergis if you're on oxygen. Since we are not on oxygen, we have to apply. I'm not sure of this though...
