Jonah's Doctor Visit

Today, Jonah got to visit the doctor. And even the doctor was amazed at how big and how advanced Jonah really is. You see, Jonah is doing all the things a 6-9 month old kiddo should be doing. And he is only 5 months. He is also "off the charts" big. No, really big. He weighs 22 pounds (one pound less than me) and is way over the average for height and head circumference (you know how much Mommy LOVES those comparison charts).

Mommy knew Jonah was big and wasn't surprised to hear that he is above average when it comes to size. But she was a little shocked that he is advanced for both gross motor skills and fine motor skills. It definitely caught her attention when even the doctor was surprised to see all that Jonah is doing. For example, he is starting to sit unassisted upright (not in the tripod stance). He is also transferring toys from one hand to the other, putting them in his mouth, and problem solving. He also loved to play with the paper on the examining table and was squealing with delight when he tore pieces of it off.

As the doctor put it, Jonah is highly advanced. And Jonah has me to thank for that. You see, part of Jonah's advancement is due to all the training Mommy received during therapy sessions for me to help me learn these basic elements. That is the only way she knows how to parent....impromptu therapy play sessions. You see, when Mommy is helping me with some therapy, Jonah gets his own session too! And apparently, it's really paying off. Big time.

Another BIG shocker is that the doctor believes Jonah is getting some teeth. Can you believe that? Teeth already? Mommy really wasn't expecting that. If you remember, I didn't get my first tooth until 14 months! So she didn't know that most kids get their teeth starting at 5-6 months.

Way to go little bro. When I do start getting your hand-me-downs, can I request some Superman? I have the glasses to match. Or how about some Mariners outfits? You know, if you keep this up, we'll be able to play catch very soon. Won't that be exciting?

Oh Dylan, Jonah wants to emulate you. He wants to be so much like his big brother. You and Mommy taught him so much. You should be honored and poud and so should mommy and daddy...Way to go team!!!
