Mommy is very excited and VERY nervous all at the same time. You see she has been asked to attend the Children's Hospital Corporate Leadership Council meeting this upcoming Monday. This meeting will be chaired by Howard Lincoln of the Seattle Mariners and "represents about 25 of Children's top fundraising companies and organizations, all committed to furthering the hospital's mission. Their collective goal is to generate $27 million by the hospitals campaign close in 2008."
The meeting is at Safeco field before a Mariner's game and the featured guest will be EDGAR MARTINEZ! Mommy is to go (I get to go too) so that she can present this council information about the 2007 Express Personnel Golf Classic that she is helping organize. Normally, Mommy's bosses would go but they couldn't so she is going in their place! Phew.
Mommy is busily preparing packets to hand out at this meeting and she is practicing her handshake for when she meets Edgar. The hand-outs are impressive (Mommy can be a bit of an overachiever) and feature some of the kiddos that have holes named after them. This includes my friend Max who gets his own page (Amy, I have a copy of the hand-out for you!).
After the meeting, Mommy and I get to attend the game. We have some fabulous tickets. They are in the Owner's Suite. Wow. Hopefully, Mommy will be able to get some tips and leads for more hole sponsors. (Each hole is named after a child touched by Children's Hospital.) This is also a great opportunity for Mommy to give back some of her thanks to Children's. They really did save my life. So, whatever it takes. But honestly, you don't have to twist her arm too hard when you let her know Edgar will be there. And who would pass up tickets to see a Mariners ballgame?!? Her favorite.
