Daddy and Mommy have been working very, very hard on getting me to talk. And Mommy is very happy to report that Daddy has gotten me to say a new word. "Bo Bo".
Mommy knows what your thinking...what? The kiddo is saying "Bo Bo" so what is the big deal? The word "Bo Bo" doesn't have any real meaning at all. But this is a very big deal because it's the first time I've used the "buh" formation of my lips in a consistent manner. With my apraxia diagnosis, we've discovered it can be very hard to learn new lip formations and to coordinate all of my mouth, throat, and tongue muscles to say a word in a consistent manner. In fact, not only can I say this new word consistently, but I can now say it anytime I want. That is the beauty of my new phrase..."Bo Bo".
So my vocal repretoire is now up to two consistent words. "Da Da" and "Bo Bo". Hooray for progress!

BO BO is a word...On Petsmart Commercial's there is a dachshund who has a BO BO..(It's a long stuffed dachshund for a chew toy) that is dirty old and tattered and his owner takes him to petsmart to get a new one. The doxie won't let go of it so the clerk has to run the dog and the toy over the scanner. It's a very cute commercial. I have purchased the said Bo Bo's for when Copper was alive and for Missy.
Good Job Dylan..I'm so proud of you!!!!
Dylan is just blooming! I have come from those days, and now Christy (age 5) is just putting sentences together. Oh, the joy of each new accomplishment!
If you would like to share this or other posts;
I am hosting the first ever Down sydrome blog carnival tomorrow August 12th, on Cause of Our Joy http://cause-of-our-joy.blogspot.com . If you have a favorite post about Down syndrome to share, please email it to me ASAP, and I'll post it.
Don't worry if you missed this one, we'll be doing this every week on different blogs, so you can join in another time, or host it yourself. I just thought this would be a great opportunity to get to know one another better and spread Down syndrome awareness.
Hope to see you at the carnival!
