Phew...what a week.

Sorry it has been a few days since our last post but Mommy has been very, very busy. Let's just start with the beginning...
  • Mommy went to work at the office on Monday and Tuesday. So that meant that Daddy was in charge of us kiddos and boy, was he in for a lesson in Parenting 101. On Monday, he took Jonah and I too school. It was "Parent Session" day so that meant the kids stayed with the teachers while the parents head to a small room for discussions. Let's just say, it was an eye-opening experience for Daddy. All of the parents were introducing themselves and why their kids are so special. For example, I have Down syndrome. The topic turned to how stressful it is to parent children with special needs, etc. Then after school, Daddy had his lesson in kids with no naps. It's safe to assume that dinner was not on the table when we got home but us kids were fed and happy by the time Mommy got home. He did a good job especially since Mommy laid down the law that we could not watch TV all day. It was particularly rough day for Jonah since he has his second tooth coming in and the first one broke through the gum line. He has been fussy all week long and doesn't want to be put down. And who needs sleep anyway?

  • On Tuesday, I went to the sitters while Daddy took Jonah to the doctor's for an appointment. Jonah officially weighs as much as I do and doing superb. Daddy did a good job helping Jonah through his immunization shots and then played with us kids for the rest of the day. We did pretty good and only had a few melt-downs. Mommy was proud. It had been a particularly long day for Daddy because after Mommy got off work, she went to a rehearsal.

  • On Wednesday, my speech therapist was sick so I didn't have therapy. But I did have my annual IFSP review. This is where we look over goals that have been set for the previous year and then set new ones. I am doing fabulous in the motor skills department (even showing off my new talent of climbing on to the furniture) but I am not doing well in speech. In fact, I'm doing pretty poorly. What is encouraging is that I am so great at signing. Hooray for Signing Time and Mommy's diligence at signing with me...all the time. Wednesday night Mommy also hosted a Financial Planning Workshop for Down syndrome Outreach. She had a Financial Planning Lawyer come and talk with the attendees about Special Needs Trusts and other necessary planning items for kiddos like me. It's scary what the government will take away from me if I even have $2000 in my name! No SSI, no Medicaid....phew. Mommy learned alot and is making an appointment with the lawyer to get things set up for me. She's hoping the workshop helped the other parents that attended too.

  • Today, I didn't have Occupational Therapy but did have school. It was beautiful out so we enjoyed playing in the sun for the entire class period. I'm having issues with putting my feet in the grass (sensory issues) but we worked on it. Jonah is also getting better at playing in the grass too. And what class would be complete without me showing off...the sensory table was full of water and "water worms". So I climbed in. Yep. I essentially took a swim right there in class and LOVED it. Good thing Mommy had the sense to take off my clothes except the diaper. (*just so you know, water worms are foamy tubes that look like beige worms in the water)

Busy, busy, busy. Tomorrow, we are going to be catching up on cleaning the house, Mommy has a concert, and we need a new toilet seat. Nothing more exciting than a toilet seat. But we are getting ready to head to Seattle so Mommy can go to the Mariner game on Saturday night.

One last thing....Jonah got his first tooth and I got my third molar! It's been a tough week.
