Out trip to through the border to Canada was unsuccessful. It is mostly Mommy's fault. As much as she preplanned....how many bottles to take, what food should she bring, tylenol (Jonah's Teething), lots of diapers, and even timed the trip to coincide with our naps....she forgot one very essential element. It's Labor Day Weekend. And boy, was there a line-up! A 3-hour long wait to just get to the border crossing to be exact.
Now to give her credit, she did stick it out for a good hour in the line-up. But Jonah woke up from his nap early and was not happy about being in the car. Normally he wouldn't have a problem if we were in motion, but for some reason, just sitting in a parking lot called Interstate-5, did not please him. She tried giving him a bottle, she gave him tylenol, she even fed him a jar of food...all while waiting in line....at a complete stop.....not going anywhere.....nope. Jonah was not very happy. He was so unhappy that he woke me up from my nap and I'm a notorious solid sleeper. He cried, he screamed, he even pooped and it became pretty apparent that she would have to resort to Plan B. Because Plan A, the trip on her own, was not going to happen. Particularly when she is all by herself with what happens to now be two nap-less wonders in the back seat screaming so hard that the car next to her turned up their music. Really. They were more than happy to let Mommy pass through their lane so she could take the very last exit at the last possible moment available.
So Plan B is to leave VERY early in the morning to go see my great-Uncle Ray in Vancouver, BC. Daddy gets off work at 6am and he is heading home, taking a shower, and then we will all climb in to the car and get to the border before 7am. We will hopefully make a quick crossing and have breakfast with Uncle Ray (who is here for a cruise and has made the trip all the way from Florida) and his beautiful wife, Auntie Lola. Mommy even has a present for them. A picture of us two kiddos.
Plan B also means that Daddy will be sleeping in the car and when we get home around noon (hopefully). That is why it was Plan B. That will be very hard for him and she sees a trip in our Saturday evening to bring him a mocha as a big thank you.
So wish us luck. We're going to give this another try. She hasn't seen Uncle Ray in a very, very long time (like over 15 years). So she is determined...Labor Day traffic or not.

Oh no!! I was hoping everything would go smoothly. I hope the second try went well and you were able to meet your family.
